I just found this great tutorial for transferring photos onto fabric - economically. Summary:
Homemade “mixture” to get more vibrant colors when printing on fabric: Mix 2 tablespoons of Alum (found in the spice section of your grocery store), 2 1/2 teaspoons of Washing Soda (found in the laundry section) and 1/2 teaspoon of liquid fabric softener. Then add one cup of hot water. Soak 100% cotton in this for 15 minutes. Dry. Iron on freezer paper - sticky side onto fabric. Stick in the printer; fabric side up.

Custom Bean Bags
Did you know you don’t have to buy those fancy schmancy fabric printer sheets to have quality printed fabric? Did you know you don’t have to buy that fancy schmancy solution to soak your own fabric in beforehand? Here is a quick no-fail recipe to get the best results with the most vibrant colors when printing on fabric…
After fifteen minutes is up wring out all the excess liquid.
Wait!!! Can’t I just print it out on fabric since the bean bags won’t be washed? The solution gives you more vibrant colors and if they should get wet they won’t bleed. This recipe is perfect for quilters who want to add pictures to their work as well.
Store the remaining solution in a container and mark it well to use at a later date.

Creative Ideas for DIY Magnets. When I saw this pic (up), I thought it was brilliant, it brings together two things I love: Magnets & Britain’s iconic bus & phone booth.

The one’s above are using tin containers as is, no decoupage, no embellishment… just stick a magnet at the back & voila!

The same goes for this one here: Vintage tins, turned into fridge magnets.

Pom-pom cushion. This cushion is called Secret Garden, initially hand-painted by Bluebellgray before going to the factory. On their blog, it says:
“Bluebellgray is an exciting, young, Scottish textile design company specialising in the home interiors market set up by designer Fi Douglas in 2009. Influenced by a love of colour and all things floral, the designs are something unique and special, each design is painted by hand in the Bluebellgray studio before being printing onto natural cottons and linens using state of the art printing technology.”
Let’s not forget this gorgeous curtain. the little half-pink-half-white cushion is also so beautiful.

Chalkboard rustic idea. I just came back from a craft show that took all my energy. But this doesn’t mean I’m not going to post a mini DIY idea over here at Tumblr.

You’re done. Happy chalk-boarding,

Boho Jewelry Fun: Bracelets, rings and earrings from the Levant. This is my new collection of handmade jewelry - by Karboojeh Jewelry. I had great fun working on these, and more, to be revealed soon inshAllah.

The first piece is called the Karboojeh Color Power Boho Bracelet. The three wooden rings above are nicknamed, Karboojeh Wood & Blue Boho Rings. The three earrings below are just a sneak peak into a boho earrings collection I might reveal here or over at my other blog karboojeh.wordpress.com.

I made a couple of key-accessories, I am showing one here below. I’m calling it, Karboojeh Blue Levant Key Charm.

I’m particularly in love with seed beads (little glass beads that if stacked together can make a big impact): In this piece, turquoise beads go lovingly well with bronze. This (below) is called, Karboojeh Mixed Brass Levant Pendant Necklace.

And here is its sister, Karboojeh Mixed Levant Pendant Necklace.

That’s it for now. Take care… :)

I just found this pic of a handmade knitted sofa & ottoman combo; I want to sleep in it.
BiscuitScout is the name of this cool slip-covers Etsy shop. So cute.

A wooden stool with leg warmers. Ah, so cute - winter is here. Brrrrrr :)

Bohemian Twig Fashion. Marukiko, one of Etsy’s hand-makers, makes these beautiful hand-painted boho twig necklaces. Love at first sight. I love rustic, not so polished jewelry that reminds us of nature & earth. Twigs are now finding their voice in boho fashion.
Boho way of recycling trees. The beads on this bracelet are made from paper, and glazed with some kind of varnish or sealer. Nail polish works, too. I like the mix up of paper beads with sequin & glass seed beads. Very authentic.
I wish I knew the original maker of this bohemian bracelet. Alas!

Color-power boho earrings. I found these earrings at fashion-conscience.com. They’re called: Fair Trade Beaded Hoop Earrings. And they are so lovely. Easy to make, too.
Here are more boho jewelery beauties, mostly handmade…

These earrings are by fellow Tumblr jewelery-maker, Bohemia Jewellery. Aren’t they gorgeous? Love’em. Handmade!

I did mention before (here and on my other blog), my love for Pom Poms, and how delighted I was seeing this pom pom hippie bracelet, also by the above-mentioned Etsy creator.

The woven rope bracelet above is from an online shop called The Vitrine. They feature the products & creations of several handmade artists.
I love the blending of woven rope & chain (below). Then there’s the tassel, a beloved jewelery element of mine. Nice design.

The tassel earrings are quite boho-chic, made out of twisted bamboo thread and suede strings.

Blue Boho-chic Jewelry. The Mediterranean is a melting ‘sea’ for civilizations that have their own interpretation of the color blue. Blue is most prevalent in ethnic jewelry that hails from places like Morocco, Istanbul and even Sham Sherif.

In this collection, I share a number of necklaces handmade by Kaboojeh Jewelry, in an attempt to modernize and enliven a culture of ‘blue.’ I have deep respect for everything old, so my attempts here are merely a form of self-expression. I’m simply not good at mimic-ing other people’s work.

The first necklace is a Karboojeh ‘One Blue’ Chain Necklace, followed by Karboojeh Sham Blue Chain Necklace, and the one below is called, Hand of Fatima pendant necklace by Karboojeh Jewelry.

Handmade, vintage, boho, necklace from the Levant. The center glass piece spells: Allah. It sits on a handmade crochet flower, with vintage beads that used to be part of an old pair of earrings. A golden vintage clip-on earring, snuggles nicely below the blue glass focal piece.

In Ottoman times, wearing the name ‘Allah’ was for protection and remembrance of the love of God. This necklace has something holy about it, it needs to be treated with utmost respect.
